HB 1339 (2023) -  Placement of Surrendered Newborn Infants

Requires licensed child-placing agencies to maintain specified registry; requires that certain information be removed from registry; prohibits child-placing agency from transferring certain costs to prospective adoptive parents; requires licensed child-placing agencies to immediately place surrendered newborn infant in physical custody of identified prospective adoptive parent; provides that prospective adoptive parent becomes guardian of such infant under certain conditions for certain period of time; requires court to require child-placing agency to make certain reasonable efforts to identify appropriate prospective adoptive parent; provides requirements for licensed child-placing agencies once they take physical custody of surrendered newborn infant.
