MEMORANDUM

TO:                         Members, Florida House of Representatives

FROM:                  Dean Cannon, Speaker

DATE:                    February 24, 2012

RE:                          Budget Conference

We are hopeful that the budget conference process will commence sometime next week.  Conference committees will be appointed to resolve differences on various budget issues as well as on conforming and implementing legislation.

Please be advised that space on conference committees is limited.  Requests to serve on conference should be e-mailed to Lynn Imhof in the Speaker’s Office no later than 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2012

When making your request, please be mindful of the following:

  • If appointed as a conferee, you will serve on the conference committee that corresponds to the Appropriations subcommittee on which you serve.

  • If you serve on multiple Appropriations subcommittees, or an Appropriations subcommittee and Finance & Tax Committee, please specify which is your preference.

  • If you are not currently assigned to an Appropriations subcommittee or the Finance & Tax Committee, please specify your area of interest.

Please note that the conference will contain Senate conforming bills for which there are no House companions.  To assist you in understanding the conforming bills, attached is a chart pairing the House and Senate conforming bills.  Excluding tax bills, the House has 8 budget conforming bills for which there is no Senate companion, and the Senate has 9 bills for which there is no House companion.

Budget conference meetings will likely be held prior to or at the end of the regular business day of the House.
